Provocations Performance: Kenneka Cook

Described as “a new vision in cosmic jazz”, Richmond native Kenneka Cook combines soul-inflected vocals with electronic loops and spacey improvisational elements. Her debut album “Moonchild” premiered on Afropunk earlier this year, and she has performed extensively in Richmond and along the East Coast. For her response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument”, Kenneka will be offering a pared down version of her unique sound, while exploring some of her favorite themes: mysticism, technology, and human connection.
