Actualized Poetry: In Remembrance of Assotto Saint, the Power of Poetry in Action
Learn more about the Haitian American poet and AIDS activist who inspired the ICA exhibition Ayida in this guided workshop.
Hosted by ICA exhibition interpretation interns this program seeks to honor and amplify the legacy of Assotto Saint, a deeply influential yet often under-recognized figure in the worlds of literature, performance, and activism. Through curated engagement with Saint’s life and work, visitors will be encouraged to reflect on his contributions and the broader cultural movements he helped shape. The program offers a space not just for learning, but also for creative expression through responsive poetry writing. Participants will listen to each other’s interpretations and reflective thoughts on how art can manifest into social change and advocacy.
