The ICA is pleased to host the finale of Bubbles Con, which brings cartoonists to Richmond to share their work in various forms, with an evening of films by Carlos Gonzalez and Akino Kondoh. Gonzalez is a Providence, Rhode Island, artist best known for his irreverent comics and his downbeat musical project Russian Tsarlag, and Akino Kondoh is an accomplished Mangaka. Both artists venture into time-based media with narrative film and animation: Kondoh will screen beautifully animated short films that bring her work into a new dimension, and Gonzalez will screen live action short films that work out complementary creative muscles away from his drawing hand. Screenings will be followed by a Q & A.
