ICA at VCU is committed to the health and safety of our staff and community, and we want to ensure that people feel safe and welcome when our building reopens. We are currently reviewing various scenarios and considerations for the ICA’s re-opening, taking into account the current Virginia Stay at Home order, as well as health and safety guidance from the University and state and local officials. We look forward to welcoming our community back to the ICA at VCU, and will announce a re-opening timeline as soon as we, in collaboration with VCU, have determined that we can re-open responsibly and with the proper measures in place. For the most up-to-date information and VCU’s wider response to the situation, please visit VCU's COVID-19 website.

Mindfulness: Resilience

Tuesday, May 21

12:00 PM–12:45 PM

RSVP

Mindfulness meditation is a way of giving “kind attention” to our experience in the here and now. As these sessions introduce you to a variety of meditation techniques and breathing practices we will also be making connections to themes in our current exhibitions. The 20 minute guided meditation is followed by sharing and instructor feedback.

Dialogues artists Martine Syms and Irena Haiduk engage themes of entrepreneurship and resilience. Throughout May we will explore the theme of resilience and how mindfulness can help us adjust to change.

Doors open at 11:45 am. All participants are invited to check in at our Welcome Desk. Mindfulness @ ICA is sponsored by the Institute of Contemporary Art and the College Behavioral and Emotional Health Institute, both at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Instructor Brinson Leigh Kresge is an Adjunct Professor at VCU, a senior Mysore teacher at Ashtanga Yoga Richmond, a certified Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Consultant, and an artist.
