Opening Event – Doing Language : Word Work
Join us at the ICA Shop Friday, December 10 to celebrate the launch of Doing Language : Word Work.
Doing Language : Word Work is a multi-part curatorial project that commissioned five artists—Bryan Castro, Riley Hooker, Joselia Rebekah Hughes, Malcolm Peacock, and agustine zegers—to generate new work in the form of editions and new media. Inspired by Toni Morrison’s Nobel Prize Lecture, DL : WW frames language as a tool to help give shape and weight to the gestural, imperceivable, and fleeting experiences of our lives.
During this event, we’ll premiere three new editions that will be available for purchase at the ICA Shop, as well as broadcasting audio works created for 1-844-NOT-Z00M in a listening session. At 7 PM, there will be remarks by the project’s co-organizers Egbert Vongmalaithong and Nontsikelelo Mutiti.
While this event is free and open to the public, we encourage you to RSVP.
