Professional Development Workshop: Paul Rucker on Artist Residencies
Friday, Apr 25
12:00 PM–3:00 PM
What is an artist residency? What is the value of a residency? Which one is good for me? Award-winning artist Paul Rucker will help you navigate the world of artist residencies, drawing upon his experience as an artist-in-residence in more than fifteen locations nationally and internationally. Residencies can range from rural settings to urban, from being the lone artist to one of many. Rucker’s wide range of experiences, from the plains of Wyoming to a mountainous villa in Italy, will help you find the right residency for you.
Multimedia artist Paul Rucker is an assistant professor and Curator for Creative Collaboration at VCU. He is currently an ICubed Arts Research fellow and is leading the development of Richmond’s Cary Forward Museum, an interpretive arts center operating at the intersection of art and artifacts and history.
This workshop will be capped at 30 people and includes a complimentary ICA Cafe lunch.
