Studio Ossidiana Artist Talk / Forced Resonance Performance
Join us for an artist talk by Studio Ossidiana, a Rotterdam-based architecture and design practice responsible for the ICA’s new outdoor installation, Pond Theater. The project reimagines the ICA’s Martha Daniel Newell Reflection Pool reflecting pool in the Thinking Field as a “third space”—a site for social gathering outside of home and work.
The installation consists of a series of floating circular platforms (“discs”) that enable visitors to sit, gather, and participate in informal or programmed activities. The project draws inspiration from historic public pools as civic gathering spaces and is intended to support both passive and active engagement. The evening will end with an outdoor activation of the work, performed by local experimental music ensemble Forced Resonance.
About Forced Resonance:
Forced Resonance is a durational exploration of breath, sound, and movement. Richmond-based artist, musician, and educator, Caleb Flood handcrafts bamboo flutes and creates participatory scores for musical gatherings throughout Richmond. Collective improvisation—both sonic and physical—activate the space through layered dissonances, harmonies, and resonant motion.
