ICA Virtual Visits 2: Parallax & our Architecture

Our new Instagram Live series ICA Virtual Visits gives you a glimpse behind the walls of the ICA at VCU from the comfort of your own phone. Each week, we’ll interview curators, artists, community partners, and staff members, drilling deep into the art, ideas, and people that define ICA at VCU.

In episode two, we’ll take a closer look at the ICA’s architecture with Director of Facilities & Experience Design Michael Lease and Digital Engagement Specialist Stephanie Stanton. 

The concept of “parallax,” or the effect whereby the position or direction of an object appears to differ when viewed from different positions, was an integral part of architect Steven Holl’s original vision for the ICA’s building. During this 10-minute livestream, we’ll showcase this effect by displaying our building’s angles with a shifting perspective.
