Provocations Performance: Trapcry

Trapcry’s name combines the grittiness of the “trap” genre with the emotion and vulnerability of the word “cry”. His gender and genre-bending performances challenge stereotypes of black masculinity, and explore new identities in hip-hop, bringing together elements of pop, rap, house, and club music. Following the release of his latest single, “Break the Ice”, he will be presenting a pared down set in response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument” installation.
