For his return performance at the ICA, Richmond native Marcus Tenney will perform a solo set on trumpet and flugelhorn in response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument” installation.
Richmond native Marcus Tenney started his musical career at the age of 11. He is a prolific multi-instrumentalist who plays saxophone and trumpet in local acts Butcher Brown and No BS! Brass Band, as well as his own jazz quartet. Their album Moment, released on American Paradox earlier this year, recalls classic jazz greats such as Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Marcus Tenney has also worked with artists Nicholas Payton, Braxton Cooke, Count Bass D, Bon Iver, Natalie Prass and many more.
