Performances selected by The Cheats Movement, a hip-hop based community platform

The Cheats Movement is a local hip-hop based community platform that encompasses a blog, podcast network, and shop. For their response to Rashid Johnson’s “Monument”, they will be partnering with The Writer’s Den, a spoken word ensemble that works with Richmond schools and non-profits, as well as a lineup of DJs. Hip Hop Henry, DJ Mentos, and DJ Pari will be playing songs directly inspired by the poetry of Writer’s Den poets Roscoe Burnems and Imani Thompson, in a performance blending verse, improvisation, and music.
