Irena Haiduk: Tableau Économique Discussion and Oration

Join Irena Haiduk and writer-curator Joshua Simon for a discussion of Tableau Économique, Haiduk’s contribution to the ICA’s Dialogues series. Tableau Économique is an economy in the form of an exhibition, produced for and by Yugoexport, a blind and non-aligned oral corporation. Incorporated in the United States (where corporations are people), launched in Paris and headquartered in Belgrade, her process of incorporation continues. Following the discussion Friday May 3, as night falls, a member of the Army of Beautiful Women will read aloud Yugoexport’s Articles of In-corporation, demonstrating the full use of the oral corporation’s principles.

Discussion at 6:30pm in the ICA Auditorium

Oration at 7:30 pm in the ICA Thinking Field

The event begins in the Auditorium with a talk between exhibiting artist Irena Haiduk and Joshua Simon. At 7:30 pm, we will migrate to the Thinking Field where, as night falls, an orator will read aloud from the incorporation documents of Yugoexport, a “blind, non-aligned oral corporation” created by artist Irena Haiduk. This reading demonstrates the oral corporation’s principles and builds on the ancient tradition of public readings of significant texts.
