October’s Mindfulness Theme: Transition
The Institute for Contemporary Art (ICA) seeks to foster well-being and connection in our community by offering programs where participants can experience traditions of all kinds. Mindfulness meditation is a way of giving “kind attention” to our experience in the here and now. As these sessions introduce you to a variety of meditation techniques and breathing practices we will also be reflecting on architect Steven Holl’s design of the building.
The guided meditation is followed by sharing and instructor feedback. Doors open at 11:45 am. All participants can check in at our Welcome Desk. Mindfulness @ ICA is sponsored by the Institute for Contemporary Art and the College Behavioral and Emotional Health Institute (COBE), both at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Instructor Brinson Leigh Kresge is an Adjunct Professor at VCU, a senior Mysore teacher at Ashtanga Yoga Richmond, a certified Yoga and Ayurveda Wellness Consultant, and an artist. She is dedicated to her daily Ashtanga and meditation practices as well as her continuing studies as a trained death doula.
