No Input: Peng!33 Zine Presents: Sprout (RVA) Destruct O Sound (RVA), Scott Clark Landscape Trio (RVA)

Friday, Nov 1

7:00 PM–9:00 PM

RSVP

No Input is a recurring series in which the ICA invites programmers from DIY spaces in Richmond to select acts to perform sets specifically adapted to the unique architecture of the ICA. The title recalls the noninterference of the “no-input” mixing technique, wherein the static produced by the inner components of a mixing board is fed back into the mixer, creating feedback loops that generate sounds and rhythms without external influence.

This month’s performers Sprout (RVA) Destruct O Sound (RVA) and the Scott Clark Landscape Trio (RVA) have been selected by the zinemakers of Peng!33, Sarah Samson and Emma Draga. Named after the Stereolab song, Peng!33 is a zine about the Richmond music scene and beyond that values independence, experimentation and community.

Destruct O Sound

Destruct O Sound (@destructosound) is a Richmond-based band consisting of songwriter Joshua Brown, Benjamin Paner, and Robert Crotts. While pop music is the premise, the group veers into the noisy, conceptual, and slightly humorous.

Sprout

Sprout (@pleasewaitasecond), the project of Gab Timbrook, concerns matters shoved under the bed, dry-rotted in the closet, and entangled within and around the mementos that you talk to when you are alone. Timbrook is a musician and writer whose work engages themes and explorations of grief, memory, trauma, derealization, hauntology, identity, and loneliness through vocal soundscape, field recordings, recovered dreams and journals, critical essay, and rambling prose.

Scott Clark Landscape Trio

The Scott Clark Landscape Trio (@sclarkrva) is music inspired by the vastness of the land around us. The trio consists of Richmonders Laura Ann Singh on vocals, Adam Hopkins on bass and Scott Clark on drums.

Curators: Peng! 33

Named after the Stereolab song, Peng! 33 (@peng33zine), created by Sarah Samson and Emma Draga, is a zine about the Richmond music scene and beyond. We value independence, experimentation, and community. We want you to learn not just about the art that people make but the artists themselves. Anyone can make music. Anyone can make art.
