Painting and printmaking provide a basis for Tomashi Jackson to engage with the stories of racial injustice endemic in American history. Her material processes are inspired by histories of racialized displacement, segregation, and erasure. For Great Force, the ICA has commissioned Jackson to produce a series of site-specific drawings on its glass facade, continuing a public drawing practice which began in 2012. Jackson will finalize this drawing as a performance during the Great Force opening celebration on Friday, October 4.
The talk is co-presented with VCUarts Department of Painting + Printmaking
