Topic Tour: Provocations + Performance

Join David Riley and Cole Hicks for a conversation about launching ICA’s annual commission series Provocations with a series of performances in response to Rashid Johnson’s large-scale installation Monument. They will discuss ideas of monumentality, community, and the local hip-hop scene.

Back by popular demand, Cole Hicks returns to ICA for a second Provocations performance on February 1-2. Hicks is recognized as one of the area’s premier MCs and released her debut album Mayday in 2018. David Riley is ICA’s graduate curatorial assistant who is coordinating the Provocations performance series. Riley is a second-year Photography and Film MFA student in the VCU School of the Arts.
