First Friday: Benae Beamon
On First Friday, Benae Beamon presents a tap performance titled Time Blackened for the Capture of Dawn, commissioned by the ICA as part of Great Force. As a tap dancer and performance artist from North Carolina, her work deals with questions of historical archiving, ritual, power, and black existence, by drawing from traditional movements in black culture. Tap dance forms the basis for a rhythmic lexicon inspired by hip hop, jazz, spoken word, and West and South African movement. Join us for a free performance in the ICA’s Royall Forum accompanied by live musicians. With refreshments and cash bar.
