Mindful Mornings: Glenstone
Mindful Mornings: Glenstone
Glenstone is a private museum located outside Washington, D.C., where contemporary art, architecture, and nature converge. The space is designed to help visitors slow down and engage directly with the environment and the permanent collection.
Join mindfulness practitioner and designer Thurmond Alford Jr. and Michael Lease, ICA director of facilities and experience design, for an exclusive field trip to this site. The visit begins with a brief session on observational walking and landscape photography, framing the camera as a tool for contemplation. Following this introduction, participants will have several hours of self-guided time to practice these techniques and explore the museum’s pavilions and trails.

Mindful Mornings Description:
Mindful Mornings at the ICA’s Markel Center is a free weekend program that pairs mindfulness practices with the goal of fostering well-being and a deeper connection to the natural world. By actively engaging with the ICA’s environmentally conscious architecture, landscape design, and exhibitions, participants will discover how small actions and a deeper understanding of the land can cultivate a sense of connection to and stewardship toward our urban landscape.
